“Durga kills evil named mahishashur who is having apart that no person can kill him. On the ninth day only a female can kill him.. only a female can kill the evil one.”
Is this love and the feminine triumphing over the violence and war of the masculine? If only for one battle? Yet a battle celebrated every year for hundreds of years.
We will appreciate all the battles won by women when we may. Especially in these trying times.
Even my small battles to make the most beautiful products, eco and ethically responsible. With people who would try to dilute and compromise my vision. Some times manufacturers don’t understand why you don’t use pvc.. or formaldehyde or why they must pass GOTS certification in order for me to do business with them. Or most mportantly why they must use fair trade labor standards.Someone yelled at me today “These are my employees. You can not tell me how many hours they can work!” No I can not ... but I will not buy from you if you do not meet these standards. So many days are so many battles. Today I won! Not just for me, but for the employees and the earth that would have received toxic ground water poisoning and the consumers who react to so many chemicals. Today I won. I feel strong like the moon tonight... I feel the drums travel thru the moonlight into my heart.

In the words of Abbie Hoffman "Steal this book" Ok, actually we would prefer you pay for the book. Do you have an interest in Historic Interior Design? I have written a little tome that covers 2,400 years of window hardware in art history... With period textiles on the window hardware shown in the artwork... And period music the artist would have been listening to as he made the artwork. I also researched the period wine.. Greek Retsina, still available now if you like a little pine tar in your vino. Lindesfarne Abbey Mead to go with your 14th century hand forged hardware. For a later, more eccentric version I also researched the period foods the artists would have enjoyed with the period wine. It lives to publish another day. This book was an experiment with a sort of "period sensory experience" to see the historic art and hear the period music and drink the period wine...a literary/ sensory time travel.
